Inside God’s Light: The Absence of Darkness

The Light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it. (John 1:5)

Eyes stare–

Finding no focus;

Feet drag–

Shuffling in fear;

Hands grope–

Unable to touch;

Inside the darkness

Absence of Light.

Called out of Darkness to the Presence of Light:

 13 About noon, King Agrippa, as I was on the road, I saw a light from heaven, brighter than the sun, blazing around me and my companions. 14 We all fell to the ground, and I heard a voice saying to me in Aramaic, ‘Saul, Saul, why do you persecute me? It is hard for you to kick against the goads.’

15 “Then I asked, ‘Who are you, Lord?’

“ ‘I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting,’ the Lord replied. 16 ‘Now get up and stand on your feet. I have appeared to you to appoint you as a servant and as a witness of what you have seen and will see of Me. 17 I will rescue you from your own people and from the Gentiles. I am sending you to them 18 to open their eyes and turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan to God, so that they may receive forgiveness of sins and a place among those who are sanctified by faith in me.’ ” (Acts 26:13-18)

For God, who said, “Light shall shine out of darkness,” is the One who has shone in our hearts to give the Light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ. (II Corinthians 4:6)

Then Jesus again spoke to them, saying, “I am the Light of the world; he who follows Me will not walk in the darkness, but will have the Light of life.” (John 8:12)

But you are A CHOSEN RACE, A royal PRIESTHOOD, A HOLY NATION, A PEOPLE FOR God’s OWN POSSESSION, so that you may proclaim the excellencies of Him who has called you out of darkness into His marvelous light.(I Peter 2:9)

Eyes stare—

Focused on Jesus;

Feet move—

Swiftly to Him;

Hands reach—

Touching the Savior;

Inside the Light

Absence of darkness.

Behold the Light of God!

Light of the world

Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows (James 1:17)

*******************************************************

Peering out the plane window,
Clouds drifting, shape-shifting,
An opaqueness one cannot penetrate-
Until the plane climbs higher,
Breaking through the cloud barrier,
Rising to meet the sunlight,
Bursting forth in brilliance
To shine across faces of travelers,
Blinded until their eyes can behold
The glory of an endless sea of light.

The difficulties we face in this life can seem unending at times. We lose our focus, adrift in uncertainty and the unknown. Nothing seems to have a definite form, like the changing clouds. We cannot break through the cover to see the light. Yet, we know it is there–on the other side.

The Lord is waiting. His Light will show us the way. We must rise to meet Him, bursting through our own cloud barrier, to see His brilliance and behold His glory.

When Jesus spoke again to the people, He said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows Me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” (John 8:12)
